Build your connection.
Based in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Bluenose Rat Sports offers private lessons, workshops, fun matches, and trials in Happy Ratters, Rats! Canada, and Wildogs Canine Escape Room Association (WCERA).
Whether you’re discovering rat sports for the first time or working toward your next competition goal, our approach starts with the dog in front of us, their motivation, their personality, and their way of learning.
WHAT ARE RAT SPORTS?
A game of hide-and-seek, led by your dog’s nose.
Rat sports give dogs an opportunity to use their natural scenting and hunting instincts to find pet rats safely housed in protective containers. The goal is to locate and indicate where the rat is hidden, with no direct contact between the dog and rat.

Different games offer different adventures, from searching among hay bales to exploring urban-themed courses. As your dog learns the game, you’ll learn to recognize their signals, trust their nose, and work together as a team.

You don’t need a particular breed or big competition goals to get started. Whether you ’re looking for an enriching activity or your next sporting challenge, rat sports offer a chance to discover what your dog enjoys and have fun together.

Our rats are beloved pets and valued teammates, and their care and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do.
every dog approaches the game differently
What excites one dog might leave another wondering what all the fuss is about. That’s part of what makes training so interesting.

At Bluenose Rat Sports, we think creatively, adapt to each individual dog, and help handlers discover what makes their partner tick. Above all, we want you and your dog to enjoy working together.
